Outreach

Visit the RNLI or invite the RNLI to your school, group or setting.

We are committed to helping young people stay safe. All our young people, whether they live inland or near the coast, need to learn how to stay safe by the sea. They may all find themselves in a difficult situation, whether they visit the beach every week or once a year.

Our comprehensive education programme focuses on the RNLI’s lifesaving work as a charity and on sea and beach safety. All our services and products have been carefully planned with learning and teaching needs in mind. They are free to all organisations working with young people between the ages of 4 and 18.

"You provided us with one of the best visitor experiences I have ever had as a teacher. [...] I was truly amazed by  the preparation and thought you had given your presentation. You had such a wonderful approach to the children and engaged their interests in everything you were saying. [...]Thank you for allowing them such a hands on learning experience."

(Claire Abbey , Year 2 Teacher)

Invite an RNLI education volunteer to your school, youth group or setting.

Enjoy one of our interactive presentations delivered by an experienced speaker. Topics can include sea and beach safety, how lifeboat rescues work, the history of the RNLI, the work of a charity, volunteering and much more.

These can be arranged at your school or club, or at the beach if this is appropriate. Book early – presentations are very popular!

To arrange a presentation, please send us your details via this online form.

Come and visit one of our lifeboat stations

Where better to learn about our work than a lifeboat station? See how it is run, look at the lifeboat and hear some rescue stories from one of the crew.

Fill in the online enquiry form with the details of your visit request and the education team will help you to find a suitable station.

In the mean time, you can find your nearest station here.

Come and visit one of our museums

We have a number of museums for you to visit around the UK and these can help bring alive the RNLI's long and exciting history to your school or youth group.

Have a look around our Museums Pages for more information about visiting.

Come visit one of our beaches

A great way to learn about the RNLI's work on beaches is to organise a beach visit. RNLI lifeguard units around the coastline can offer talks to schools on the beach.

Fill in the online enquiry form with the details of your visit request, and the Education team will contact you.
